Masters plus PhD scholarships


There are still scholarships available for the Masters plus PhD scheme. For full consideration submit your application by the 6th June 2025.

Please note, you must be a UK domiciled applicant to be eligible for these scholarships.

These scholarships offer a fully-funded place on the Quantitative Methods in Biodiversity, Conservation, and Epidemiology MSc followed by entry into the 4-year PhD programme. Fees and stipend are provided for all 5 years of the scholarship.

To be considered for the Masters plus PhD scholarship, applicants should send the following documents via email to colin.torney@glasgow.ac.uk with the subject line “Masters plus PhD scholarship application”:

  • A personal statement that describes your interest in ecology and data science, your research interests, and your future aspirations. The statement should also explain how you meet the eligibility requirements for the scholarships.
  • An up-to-date CV
  • The transcript of your undergraduate degree

Eligibility

The Master's plus PhD Scholarships are available to Black students and those from a low-income household background. To be eligible for the Master's plus PhD Scholarships, candidates must:

  • Be a UK domiciled student
  • Not already have a Master’s degree from the host institution
  • Meet one of the following criteria:
    1. Be from a low-income household background as evidenced by, for example, being in receipt of a full maintenance loan or Special Support loan during their undergraduate studies.
    2. or
    3. Be one of the following categories of ethnicity:
      • Black African
      • Black Caribbean
      • Black Other
      • Mixed – White and Black Caribbean
      • Mixed – White and Black African
      • Other mixed background
